Want a Beautiful Smile :)

Home Remedies for Teeth Whitening

There are many teeth whitening home remedies. Many of them can help you acheive a whiter smile, but you need to be careful what suits you.

First you need to make sure about the following:
  • Maintain a regular oral hygiene. Wash your mouth after every meals and brush twice daily. Use a toothpaste containing fluoride for healthy teeth and to prevent tooth decay.
  • Hydrogen peroxide or baking soda when added to the toothpaste while brushing your teeth will help to whiten them. Use hydrogen peroxide in small quantity as if over done it can cause bruising in the mouth.
  • Avoid any foods that cause stains on your teeth like tobacco, smoking, strong coffee, strong tea, colas or acidic juices.

Methods:

BAKING SODA: An old-time favorite, it is well known for its ability as a cleaning agent to get rid of stains in the home, but it can also work great on your teeth as well. Most dentists agree that it's safe to use and works fairly quickly.

~ Get your toothbrush wet.
~ Dip it into a small amount of baking soda.
~ Use a circular motion to scrub the front surfaces of  your teeth for at least two minutes.
~ Rinse with clean water

LEMON JUICE:
Brushing your teeth with lemon juice mix with a quarter teaspoon of aloe vera gel or one teaspoon of salt is a frequently mentioned home remedy. The lemon's natural bleaching properties can help make the teeth brighter.

STRAWBERRIES:
Not many people are aware that strawberries contain natural teeth whitening agents and the seeds work great for cleaning. Since they also contain sugar and acids, it's important to brush immediately afterwards with a fluoride toothpaste. For easy and quick application, you can either rub the strawberry against your teeth, or mash it up and use it like toothpaste.

WOOD ASH:
It may sound strange but hard wood ash helps whiten teeth. It contains potassium hydroxide, a compound that will bleach your teeth. The tiny crystals scrape off plague in hard to reach places and will scrub them clean. However, using wood ash often or scrubbing too hard can damage your tooth enamel, so it's best to avoid using it for long periods of time.

To apply it to your teeth, you can put it directly on your toothbrush or mix it with a small amount of toothpaste.

TIP:
Remember that teeth naturally have a yellowish tint because of calcium. Brushing too hard and using lemon juice, an acid, or any form of vitamin C will eat away the surface.

3 Steps to Naturally Beautiful Hair

Our hair just like our skin, is a reflection of our overall health. And just like our skin, it can be damaged by environmental factors like excessive sun and harsh chemicals. Follow these three easy steps by eliminating toxins, protecting from damage, and nourishing with natural ingredients to achieve and keep naturally beautiful hair.

1. Cleanse Naturally
Our hair picks up dirt and pollution throughout the day, so its important to remove these toxins by shampooing. Use a natural shampoo without silicones to minimize residue. If you have been using a conventional shampooing product with silicones, it might take a few weeks before you start seeing results after you switch to a natural shampoo such as Shikai Natural Everyday Shampoo or Avalon Biotin Complex Thickening Shampoo. During the first few weeks, you may actually find that your hair feels nottier than usual. This is because it may take several weeks to remove all the silicone residue.

Although its important to keep hair clean, its equally important to avoid over-washing hair. A common misconception is that hair needs to be washed everyday. Especially if you have dry or damaged hair, all you need is a shampoo twice per week. Over-washing hair can strip its natural oils and worsen the condition. Normal hair should be washed up to 5 times per week.

2. Protect
Excessive sun, color treatments, and perming can wreak havoc on even the most robust hair. The easiest way to protect hair from sun is to wear a hat or stay in the shade. Aim for less than 15 minutes of direct sun per day. Also stay away from "sun activated" hair lightening products, these tend to cause hair to dry out and speed up the process of sun damage. When it comes to hair coloring, opt for a natural hair coloring product such as Naturtint which uses herbal dyes rather than chemicals such as alcohol and peroxide. There are also organic perming and straightening systems available, just look for a professional salons that have gone organic near you.

3. Nourish Naturally
Just like skin, your hair needs to be pampered once in a while to maintain tip top shape. Apply conditioner at least with every other shampoo and do a hair mask once every two weeks. A luscious DIY solution is to massage one avacado and a cup of real mayonnaise creamed together over hair and leave on for 30min with a shower cap. You will see noticeable difference almost immediately after rinsing out the mask. Or try Hamadi's Shea Hair Mask for a bit more costly but fool proof solution.

There you have it! Follow these three easy steps and look forward to healthy, beautiful hair in 6 weeks or less. Here's to a naturally beautiful you!

Collection of Useful Tips

Household Remedies
  • Use White vinegar and water to clean glass
  • For pans that have had food burned onto the bottom, apply a capful of ammonia, fill the pan with water and boil for a few minutes, it will soften all of that up so you don't have to throw out the pan.

Dry or Chapped Lips
  • Slather your lips with vaseline overnight to cure dry, chapped lips.

Mosquito Bites
  • To keep mosquitos away, use baby oil, they don't like to put their feet in it
  • To help stop the itch of a mosquito bite, apply toothpaste (not gel) to the area
  • To keep mosquitoes from biting you place a dryer sheet in your pocket
  • For bites, apply hemmoroid cream

Bee Stings/Bug Bites
  • For a bee sting, apply baking soda compresses- the soda soothes the sting and draws out the stinger.
  • Apply sliced raw garlic, which relieves wasp and bee stings; follow with an ice pack
  • A baking soda compress helps a bee sting; if stung by a wasp, apply vinegar to soothe.

Hiccups

  • The only real hiccup cure is one that treats the hiccups for what they really are. Hiccups are caused by the diaphragm spasming. Taking in as much air as possible, makes the lungs expand and push down on the diaphragm. This stretches the diaphragm out to it original position and shape. Hold the breath as long as possible, just don't pass out, and let it out. Voila', no more hiccups. It works every time.

  • For hiccups, try a spoonful of peanut butter

    Headaches
    • Cut a lime in half and rub over forehead and temples.

    Hangovers

    • Drink a glass of milk before you go out drinking, and a glass of drink before bed; also eat before you go out.
    • Take 2 advil before going out, 2 before bed.
    • Eat breakfast the next morning with glass of tomato juice if you have nausea

    Warts

    • To get rid of a wart fast, use nail polish (preferably colorless so it cannot be seen). Wart shoud be gone in a week.
    • Another wart remover is to use duct tape on warts on your feet for 7 days...I just heard that one! Also, I just heard that if you go in your yard and take a dandelion and break it open, dab the milk from the dandelion on the wart

    Sore Throat

    • Gargle salt water for a sore throat

    Insomnia

    • If you cannot sleep, eat spaghetti; it relieves tension.
    • Heat up a glass of milk in the microwave and drink

    Ear Infections

    • Use lemon juice in your ear for an ear infection
    • Hydrogen peroxide works for me. Drop a few drops in the ear and lean over to let it sink in ( it feels really cool too). It actually feels like it is working. I do this a few times a day and it gets rid of it quickly!
    • For ear infections, especially swimmers ear, you can clear it up by putting a few drops of rubbing alcohol into your ear and draining it immediately a few times a day. It's better to do this to both ears after a swim to prevent the ear infection completely. I've had two terrible ear infections and I use alcohol every time I swim now. Do this at the first hint of ache or itchiness in your ear.

    Bowel Problems

    • To rid diarrhea, heat a cup of milk in microwave (not to a boil) and drink.
    • Drink lots of water for diarrhea because diarrhea dehydrates you; also, eat rice
    • For cramps or stomach aches, eat a banana. The pain should be gone in about 10 min.
    Constipation

    • Swallow a table spoon of olive oil for constipation
    • Eat Fig for constipation
    • Another great tip is to take a cup of warm milk and mix a teaspoon of oil or ghee in it
    • This helped me a lot, DRINK AS MUCH WATER AS YOU CAN; and eat an apple, that worked for me!

    Nail Care

    Home Remedies For Nail Care

The following are some tips for achieving and maintaining healthy, attractive fingernails and toenails:

    • Keep your nails and hands well moisturized. Moisturizers containing collagen and vitamin E are especially good for the nails. They are most effective if put on after soaking your nails in warm water and patting dry.
    • File your nails in one direction only, not back and forth.
    • Keep toenails clipped straight across, not curved or pointed, to avoid ingrown toenails. Also, do not clip toenails too short or clip them in at the sides.
    • Use a fine-textured emery board, not a metal nail file. Metal files are hard on the nails.
    • Moisturize and gently push back your cuticles. Do not cut them. a Do not manicure your nails too frequently or apply nail products too often.
    • If you have sensitive skin and nails, look for fragrance-free and formaldehyde-free polishes and non-acetone polish removers.
    • If you wear polish, let your nails go "bare" for a few days each month to let the air get to them.
    • Use protective cotton-lined vinyl gloves to wash dishes, work with cleansers, or work in the garden.
    • Never bite your nails. Do not use them as prying tools.

    TIPS:
    • To help dry nail polish quicker, run your fingers under cold water.

    • If you keep your nailpolish in the fridge, they stay fresher longer and you can keep them longer.

3 Easy Steps to Naturally Beautiful Healthy Skin

You can spend a fortune on beauty products to give the appearance of healthy skin, or you can follow these simple steps to get healthy skin from inside out, plus get a healthier body too. Since our skin is a reflection of our overall health, living a healthy lifestyle will give us naturally radiant skin. These steps involve no expensive creams or surgical tools. As long as you can commit to a change, you will see results in a matter of days. What are you waiting for? Give these easy steps a try!

    Step 1. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
Not drinking enough fluids can cause headaches, drowsiness, and long term effects such as kidney stones and urinary infections. Some 75% of Americans don't drink enough water, so chances are, adding more fluids into your day will help you feel and look better. You can go by the standard 8 glasses (8 oz each) of water per day as a rule of thumb, but to be more exact, how much water you need to drink depends on your gender, body weight, and activity level. A sure way to tell if you're drinking enough is by observing the color of your pee, aim for colorless to slightly yellow and you are good to go. Also, try to remember to hydrate before you get thirsty, since you might already be slightly dehydrated when you experience thirst. Watching what you drink is important too, for instance, soda, coffee, alcoholic beverages, or salty soups doesn't count since they may actually dehydrate you. A good way to remember is to drink a glass of water when you wake up, one with every meal, one before, during, and after exercising, and one before going to bed. Hydrated skin cells are juicy and plump, reducing fine lines and gives a nice dewy look. Folks with dry skin will see clear benefits while oily skin friends will have less acne breakouts.

When I got pregnant, I got this sippy cup for $7.99 to get myself to drink more water, and it really worked! I found that removing the barrier of having to open a cap made me drink more water more often, it's so easy to take a sip. Plus it feels like a Starbucks cup and looks nicer than most water bottles, and can be used again and again. Just cut a slice of lemon, and fill up with filtered water and you're ready to go!

Step 2. Eat your fruits and vegetables
At the risk of sounding like your mother, I must remind you how important it is to consume raw fruits and veggies. They are packed full of antioxidants and are not only good for your skin but also naturally boost the immune system. Many vitamins are destroyed by heat, so eating raw foods whenever possible is the way to go.  For maximum benefit, eat fruits and veggies with their peels whenever you can. It's been shown that up to 90% of nutrients such as vitamin E (a great skin healer) is found in the peel only. While I wouldn't eat the peel of a pineapple or orange, apple and pear skin is not too bad at all. To avoid dangerous pesticides and herbicides, soak fruits and veggies in water with a teaspoon of baking soda for 10 minutes. Since most chemicals sprayed on crops are acidic, baking soda neutralizes and dissolves these chemicals quickly and safely. Even better, buy fruits and veggies that are certified USDA organic to be on the safe side. Besides, organic fruits and veggies tend to be more flavorful and tend to be packed with more nutrients anyway. Aim for 5 fruits and 5 veggies per day: Bring carrot sticks for a snack, an apple and an orange for breakfast, some blueberries with ice cream for dessert. The delicious possibilities are endless. Stick to it for a few weeks and you will see more even toned, radiant skin, make the change forever and delay the aging process!

    Step 3. Exercise everyday
Skin cells are regenerating as we speak, every second there is new skin ready to replace the old. The speed at which this happens however depends on genetics, age, and your activity level. Just like every other organ, the skin takes in nutrients and excretes waste products as it works. Exercising your body will boost this natural regenerating process and sweating will help skin release its waste. (It's true that sitting in a Sauna also does this, but the other health benefits to regular exercising makes it completely worth it.) I know it sounds daunting at first, like, where do I find time to work out when I've got work, and kids, and dinner to make... etc. In fact, finding clever ways to squeeze in exercise can be fun and fast. It's been shown that exercising for 3 ten minute stretches is equivalent to exercising for a full 30min stretch. That means you can take a walk around the block with the dog (10min), take the stairs whenever you can (5min), do some pilate moves while being put on hold with the phone (5min), do some squats while brushing your teeth (5min). Deep breathing is also considered a form of exercise and a great relaxation tool. Do this while driving and it will decrease road rage and give you better complexion once you arrive at your destination.

Making lifestyle changes is never easy. But making small changes everyday without beating yourself up will build life-long positive habits in the long term. Try to make a commitment to make a change for 21 days. It's been shown that it takes 21 days to form a new habit, after that it just becomes second nature. Here's to more healthy skin naturally! Stay tuned for more tips, next up "3 steps to naturally beautiful hair".
